How does BANDiZMO.com work?
|
As an artist your first step is to become a member. This is completely free.
There are 3 member types: Singer/Songwriter, Band who writes own material and Songwriter/Composer (NB This site is for unsigned artists).
Next upload your music, also for free! You can choose to place your music in up to 3 Genres (or iZMOs) and 3 Sub iZMOs to ensure that everyone can easily find it.
As an extra free feature, you can upload up to 4 photos from which a slideshow will be created by BANDiZMO.com, to advertise you and/or your band while your songs play.
There are 2 other member types: Record Company/Music Publisher and Music Lover, these members can use all the facilities of BANDiZMO.com except they cannot upload music.

How do I listen to original music from artists or bands?
|
It's easy, either click on any song title or picture to play the song, you can also use the detailed search functions to find exactly the music you want.
Try clicking play all; the player will then play the next song from your search automatically just like a playlist.

What are the system requirements for BANDiZMO.com?
|
BANDiZMO uses up to date Internet web-browsing technology. You will need to have at least Macromedia Flash 8 installed, Version 9 is ideal.
To ensure you have the most up to date version, you can check by going to the Macromedia Flash site.
For Windows machines we recommend using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or for Mac's, Safari, Firefox, or Opera.
Please note: A Broadband connection would be preferable, because of the speed requirement for streaming audio.

When I click on a song, it doesn't start playing. Why?
|
This may be because you do not have Flash installed on your computer.

I work in the music industry how does this site work for me?
|
BANDiZMO is ideal for the music industry as by becoming a member you can search the world for exactly the music you are looking for by using our detailed sub iZMOs (NB this site is for unsigned artists) with the added protection that you that your email address is never disclosed.
Please be aware that once you contact an artist through the site, or any chat room, they will be able to view your profile and contact you internally through the site.

Unfortunately not, in order to protect our members and make sure that the BANDiZMO community stays focused on music, only members are allowed access to iZMOCHAT.

What have you got to lose! BANDiZMO is a completely free website which splits music genres (or iZMOs) down into detailed sub iZMOs. This will make it far easier for the record companies, music industry and people into your type of music to find you. Additionally, unlike a lot of other sites, your music will be played at the quality you upload it. Use our site to connect you as an emerging artist or band to new fans worldwide.

Definitely, our detailed sub genres (or iZMOs) should cover most of the world's musical styles.

Can I sell my songs/music on BANDiZMO.com?
|
Unfortunately not, we are not an online music store. BANDiZMO is a music networking site dedicated to helping and promoting unsigned music and showcasing emerging new artists.
However there is no problem with linking to an online music store from your profile, or using the "email your fanbase" function to point your fans to other sites which sell unsigned or independent music.

This site is for you, the artist, to promote, advertise and connect to fans of different music styles across the world. Our taste may not be the same as your audience so on BANDiZMO everyone is equal.

Can I embed a song into another website?
|
Yes of course, simply click the "Share with others" button on any song page.
This will then display 2 options - URL and Embed.
For URL copy and paste the link into an email or message.
For Embed copy and paste the HTML code into your chosen website, this will then show the song and your slideshow.

I've forgotten or lost my password. Can I get it back?
|
Yes no problem, simply click forgot password on the homepage.
You will be asked to enter your membership email address. For site security we will email you a new password code. Log back into BANDiZMO using this new password code where you will be prompted to change you password to a word of your choice.

Why do I have to choose an iZMO and sub iZMO?
|
In order to keep you up to date with your preferred genre (or iZMO) and sub iZMO we at BANDiZMO do 2 things:
1) Each time you log in you will be shown a random selection of songs that match your chosen style. A great way to hear and keep up to date with your music scene.
2) Every couple of weeks you will receive an email updating you on your chosen iZMO and sub iZMO.
You can change this preference at any time using "edit profile"¯.

What kbps will my song be played at?
|
Unlike some other sites, on BANDiZMO your song will be played at the same quality and KBPS as you upload it, up to a maximum of 320KBPS.
We know that you have spent hours making sure your songs sound just right, so we feel they should be played at that bit rate as well. In order to ensure the highest quality we recommend the mp3's you upload are sampled at, or above, a bit rate of 128KBPS with a stereo frequency of 44.1 kHz.

What type of song/music files can I upload?
|
Presently we only support MP3's. This is so as many web users as possible can enjoy your music and the time to load the songs is as fast as possible.
Obviously quality is very important, so you can upload songs up to 320KBPS and there is no limit on the number of original songs you can upload.

How can I convert my songs/music into MP3's?
|
There are numerous free online programs that convert audio files (wav, wma, ogg) to MP3.
iTunes offers a free and reliable program for both Windows and Mac users, although there are many other open source convertors available for download.
Windows: In iTunes go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing>Import Using:
Mac: In iTunes go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing>Import Using:
Then select "MP3 Encoder".
You can then highlight any song, right click and select "Convert Selection to MP3". iTunes will then copy the song as a new track as an mp3 (you therefore don't lose your original mpeg4 version).

Is there a limit to the number of songs I can upload?
|
No, BANDiZMO has no restriction on the number of original songs you can upload, but in order to promote you and your band in the best way possible you should only upload your best tunes. Quality versus quantity!

|
At BANDiZMO we want to offer the best selection of detailed genres (or iZMOs) and sub iZMOs on the web.
If you cannot find the Sub iZMO you are looking for please let us know at iZMO@BANDiZMO.com and we will add it in for you.
The world has so many different musical styles and we value them all.

What type of files can I use for my cover picture or slideshow?
|
4 file types can be used for your cover picture, song pictures or slideshow.
These are: If you wish to match your picture file to the size of the video player, it should measure 320px width and 300px height.
Please Note: Some very large file dimensions will not register as pictures in your actual slideshow, please reduced the size in this case.

When I upload my music do I retain all rights and copyright?
|
Yes, when you upload any material, you keep the full rights and all material remains your property. All you are doing is giving BANDiZMO non-exclusive rights to display and play your work. For more information please see our Terms and Conditions. You are free to upload and promote the same songs any where else you choose.
You can also add links to your profile, which could be - your own website, MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, YouTube or any other site to promote your music.

How do I change or update my profile?
|
You can change any element of your profile at any time including picture, email address, password, country etc by clicking "edit profile"¯ from your details page/tab.
You can reach this page by clicking on your name at the top and then selecting "edit profile" from your control panel.
Please Note: If you change your band name at any time, this change will NOT be reflected in your slideshow, to do this, go to ‘your songs’, then click ‘edit song’ on one of your songs.
You will then be taken to that songs details, click the ‘edit song’ button and your new band name will now be displayed for that slideshow.

What does "let my fanbase know about this song" mean?
|
When you upload a new song, you are given the option to let your fans know about it.
This is an internal message to all your fans providing a link to your song - a great way to get your song out there!
Every couple of weeks each member will receive an external email updating them on the site, their preferred iZMO and how many new messages they have. Once your fans log in they will be able to play and comment on your new song without having to search for it.

I didn't receive my activation email. Where is it?
|
The most common reason for this is that the email is sitting safely in your junk mail folder.
If it's not there, try checking the spelling of your email address.
If the reason is neither of the above please email us directly from the email account you used to signup and we will validate your email address for you. Some email providers automatically block unknown email addresses.

Can I remove other people's comments?
|
In order to receive balanced feedback on your songs, you can only remove your own comments and not other people's.
However if the comments are offensive, defamatory, infringing, obscene, indecent, threatening, abusive or harassing please contact us at complaints@BANDiZMO.com. We will then investigate and remove if necessary.
Please include in your email the song title where the offensive comment is posted and the members name who posted it.

How do I cancel my membership?
|
We would be sorry to see you go, but if you are sure then please send an email from your membership email address to us at remove@BANDiZMO.com and we will remove you from our site.
It would be great if the reason was that you were now signed, so please let us know of your success!

How do I stop receiving update emails from BANDiZMO.com?
|
Your 2 weekly BANDiZMO updates contain an unsubscribe option. Simply click on this link and you will no longer receive your updates from BANDiZMO.
If you are getting too many emails as a fan of a particular artist, you can stop being a fan by removing them from your "A Fan of"¯ tab in your profile.
Once you have removed them you will no longer receive email updates from that member.

How do I email or contact my fanbase?
|
You have 2 ways of contacting your fanbase, both internal to the site and via email.
1) When you upload a new song, you are given the option to let your fans know about it. This is an internal message to all your fans providing a link to your song, a great way to get your song out there.
2) You can also email your entire fanbase in one go, to let them know about gigs, new songs etc by clicking "Email Your Fanbase"¯ from either your homepage or profile page.

My slideshow/picture is not changing when I edit the song, why?
|
You may find that clearing your cache or temporary files will fix this problem.
Firefox – From the main toolbar, select Tools then Clear Priavte Data Then deselect all options except Cache and click “Clear Private Data Now” button.
Internet Explorer – From the main toolbar, select Tools then Delete Browsing History Then under the heading “Temporary Internet Files”, click “Delete Files” button.
You should then find that the changes to your slideshow have been registered.
